Lunenburg is a town in Nova Scotia, Canada, located on the south shore of the province of Nova Scotia. The settlement was established in 1753 and was one of the earliest attempts made by the British to settle Protestants in Nova Scotia. The UNESCO World Heritage Site status of Old Town Lunenburg was awarded to the area in the year 1995. The clearest example of a planned British colonial settlement to have survived in North America is Lunenburg, which was founded in 1749. It was established in 1753, and its layout and general appearance have remained unchanged since then. Image by Bob is licensed under CC BY-NC-SA 2.0.
