Saqqara Burials shows the inside of a tomb after announcing on Thursday, January 26, 2023, that it had found some 4,300-year-old tombs in Saqqara. This is the latest in a long line of discoveries made at the ancient burial site. The tombs were built during the Fifth and Sixth dynasties of the Old Kingdom, which lasted from 2686 to 2181 B.C., according to officials in Saqqara, which is about 19 miles south of Cairo. In another shaft that was 10 meters deep, wooden and stone statues were found, as well as a stone sarcophagus that held the mummy of a man named Fetek, according to the writing on the coffin.
