Leh Ladakh

Himalayan Ladakh has a cold desert climate with long harsh winters from October to early March with minimum temperatures well below freezing for most of the winter. The city gets occasional snowfall during winter. The weather in the remaining months is generally fine and warm during the day. Average annual rainfall is only 102 mm (4.02 inches). In 2010 the city experienced flash floods which killed more than 100 people. Mountains dominate the landscape around the Leh as it is at an altitude of 3,500 m. The principal access roads include the 434 km Srinagar-Leh highway which connects Leh with Srinagar and the 473 km Leh-Manali Highway which connects Manali with Leh. Both roads are open only on a seasonal basis. Although the access roads from Srinagar and Manali are often blocked by snow in winter, the local roads in the Indus Valley usually remain open due to the low level of precipitation and snowfall.

Nubra Valley

Nubra valley is a high altitude cold desert like the rest of the Tibetan Plateau, with rare precipitation and scant vegetation except along river beds. The villages are irrigated and fertile, producing wheat, barley, peas, mustard and a variety of fruits and nuts, including blood apples, walnuts, apricots and even a few almond trees. Most of the Nubra Valley is inhabited by Nubra dialect or Nubra Skat speakers. Nubra valley located to the north east of Ladakh. Diskit is the capital of Nubra and it is about 150 km north from Leh town, the capital of Ladakh district of Jammu and Kashmir India. Pangong Lake

Pangong Lake of ladakh is the high grassland endorheic lake in the Himalayas situated at a height of about 14,270 feet and 134 km long extended from Indian Kashmir to China. Approx 60% of the length of waterbodies lies in China and 5 km wide at its broadest point. All together it covers 604 Sq-km. During winter Pangong lake freezes completely, despite being saline water. It is not a part of Indus river basin area and geographically a separate landlocked river basin.

Popular Kashmir tourist destination and hill station Pahalgam town is located 45 kilometers from Anantnag on the banks of Lidder River at an altitude of 7,200 feet. Kolahoi Glacier, situated up the Lidder Valley, just below Kolahoi Peak is currently a hanging glacier. It is accessible from Pahalgam via Aru and is known to have extended for at least 35 kilometers. The glacier receded by half since 1985 and it is not safe to study because it is hollow and has 200-foot-deep crevices.

Gulmarg Kashmir

Gulmarg town is a hill station and a popular skiing destination by a notified area committee in the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir India. Sonamarg Kashmir

Dal Lake in Kashmir

Gangtok Sikkim

Enchey Monastery was established in 1909 above Gangtok, the capital city of Sikkim in the Northeastern Indian state. It belongs to the Nyingma order of Vajrayana Buddhism. The monastery built around the then small hamlet of Gangtok became a religious centre. The location was blessed by Lama Drupthob Karpo, a renowned exponent of tantric (adept) art in Buddhism with flying powers, initially a small Gompa was established by him after he flew from Maenam Hill in South Sikkim to this site.

Kangra Valley

Kangra Fort was built by the Royal Rajput family of Kangra State of the Katoch dynasty, which traces its origins to the ancient Trigarta Kingdom, mentioned in the Mahabharata epic. It is the largest fort in the Himalayas and probably the oldest dated fort in India. The Kangra Fort is located 20 kilometers from the town of Dharamsala on the outskirts of the town of Kangra, India. A British garrison occupied the fort until it was heavily damaged in an earthquake on 4 April 1905.
