The Temple of Isis in Philae is dedicated to Isis, Osiris, and Horus. In Egyptian mythology, Isis brought Osiris back to life, gave birth to Horus, and mummified Osiris after he died. These stories are shown on the walls of the temple. Since ancient times, the goddess Isis has been worshipped on the island. Ptolemy II Philadelphus, who ruled from 285 to 246 BCE, and Ptolemy III Euergetes (reigned 246–221 BCE), who took over after him, finished building the Temple of Isis.
