Popocatepetl, an active stratovolcano, may be found in the middle of Mexico, straddling the borders of Puebla, Morelos, and Mexico. It is in the part of the Trans-Mexican volcanic belt that is to the east. It is the second highest peak in Mexico, coming in at 5,426 meters, behind Citlaltepetl, which stands at 5,636 meters.
